Mirela Letailleur, creator of The Travel Bunny

Hi, I’m Mirela Letailleur, the writer behind The Travel Bunny. I created this blog to share practical travel tips, insights from my trips, and guides to help you plan with confidence. My approach is straightforward: I focus on places worth your time, avoid the crowds, and share tips that make each destination feel more accessible.

How My Travel Adventure Began

I grew up in Bucharest, Romania, where family road trips were the highlight of my childhood. Those early adventures were simple — just a map, a packed lunch, and a plan to see what was out there. But they sparked something in me. I still remember standing on my first mountaintop, amazed by how small everything looked, and realizing that there was so much more to see. Later, as I traveled further, these experiences helped me see the value in both the well-known landmarks and the quiet streets that few mention.

From Exploring the World to Sharing It with You

After years of traveling and gathering my own tips, I started noticing that people would often ask for my advice — how to find the best local food, save money on a trip, or avoid tourist traps. That’s when I knew I wanted to create The Travel Bunny. I wanted a space to document my journeys, but more importantly, to offer practical, no-nonsense tips that would make travel easier and more enjoyable for others. Starting the blog was a way to share my perspective as a travel blogger and turn my adventures into something helpful.

These days, most of my travels are with my husband, Mathieu Letailleur. We met in 2017, connected by our shared love for exploring new places. Interestingly, our travel story actually began in my home country, Romania, where Mathieu lived for several years. We plan every trip together, from researching the best local spots to finding deals that fit our budget, each of us sometimes taking turns as the guide.

This photo was taken on the day I thought my husband would propose to me. But he just wanted me to get hit by a sprinkler. Still, this is the dress I wore to city hall when we got married.

In 2018, I decided to make travel a bigger part of my life by leaving my role as a Digital, Events & Adult English Courses Coordinator at the British Council. We initially thought we’d be heading to Paris, but Romania had a way of keeping us around for another year before new adventures led us back out into the world.

In 2019, we dove into sailing courses and earned our permits. The following year, we took our love for exploring a step further by buying a sailboat to explore the Mediterranean. The idea actually came to us over a casual sangria in Piraeus, Greece, and soon after, it became our next big plan. That sailing trip even led us to our current home, in a hilltop village in the South of France, Bagnols-en-Forêt, where we’ve settled after a year of marina life on the Côte d’Azur. Now, with a camper van and a toddler, we’re ready to embrace even more new destinations!

Since launching in 2017, The Travel Bunny has become a resource for people looking for a more grounded, practical approach to travel. Here, you’ll find guides and tips that make exploring more accessible —whether you’re interested in family-friendly activities in France or hidden spots across Europe. My goal is to pass on what I’ve learned so you can travel with confidence and avoid the hassle.

With years of travel under my belt, I’ve built a bank of knowledge and experiences that I’m passionate about sharing. As a trusted travel guide for exploring Europe and beyond, I’ve been fortunate to connect with locals, discover hidden paths, and work with travel brands committed to authentic and enriching experiences. Over time, my work has been featured in respected travel publications, and I’ve collaborated with some well-known brands, ensuring (through trusted partnerships, not just promotion) that my advice is grounded in real experiences rather than just glossed-over recommendations.

I bring to The Travel Bunny blog a blend of insights and practical advice you can use to plan your own memorable trips. My goal is to create straightforward, useful guides that cover not just the highlights but also local tips that make a visit truly enjoyable and hassle-free.
