The Netherlands is a charming little country in the low-lying river delta of northwestern Europe. It’s known for its beautiful natural scenery, with famous flatlands dotted with windmills, blooming tulip fields, winding canals, green pastures, charming villages with bridges arching over canals, and lots of bicycles.

With more than 17 million people living in a relatively small area, this is a heavily populated modern European nation. However, also the biggest of its cities has kept a very comfortable small-town feel and many are filled with historical heritage.

Those who visit the the Netherlands can explore the country’s rich cultural heritage, with old cities and towns, world-class museums and galleries, and beautiful architecture. The country is also home to a range of outdoor activities, from cycling through the countryside to explore the beautiful national parks.

The Netherlands is also famous for its delicious food and drink, including cheese, beer, and delicious pastries.

The nation is generally referred to as Holland, but this term applies only to two of its twelve provinces and is unpopular with Dutch people who do not come from North or South Holland. Many people also think the Netherlands is just Amsterdam, but there are many other places worth a visit, like Delft, Leiden, and Rotterdam.
