• Begin your personalized 6.5-hour trip with hotel pickup at the time of your choosing.
• Start by visiting the Ana Kai Tangata, a cave with drawings on the roof and a name that alludes to the cannibalism that occurred on the island during the conflict.
• See the Rano Kau, a volcano providing a panoramic view of the island and a gorgeous lake 200 meters (656 feet) below.
• Visit the ceremonial village of Orongo, where one of the most fascinating political ceremonies took place annually during the 18th and 19th centuries as several tribes battled to become the island’s leader.
• The islanders came to this gorgeous portion of the island to see who would be their new king in a magnificent sports event that included falling down cliffs and swimming out to some islets off the coast.
• Additionally, visit the Vinapu site to see some of the island’s exquisite rockwork, which is evocative of that found in South America’s renowned Inca civilization.
• Make your way to the Puna Pau quarry to see the enormous scoria (red, cindery, basaltic lava stone) from which the adornments for numerous statues’ heads were carved.
• Then visit Ahu Akivi, a restored statue site with seven statues. It is thought to be the representation of the island’s first seven explorers. The only group of sculptures facing the sea is this group of seven moai.
• Easter Island, like many other volcanic islands, is studded with lava tubes. Ana Te Pahu is one of the more extensive networks you’ll come upon on the island.
• In the 18th and 19th centuries, the ancient Rapa Nui people used these cave networks to live, collect water, produce food, and hide from hostile outside visitors.
• You will be dropped off at your hotel at the end of the tour.
