When your cruise ship lands at Puerto Limon in the morning, meet your driver and proceed by minivan to a launch location on the Tortuguero Canal. This stream, often known as the ‘Amazon of Costa Rica,’ runs through a protected wildlife reserve that is home to a wide array of plant and animal species. Climb aboard a covered riverboat and take a leisurely ride down the canal as a guide provides commentary on the rainforest ecology and assists you in spotting native animals like crocodiles, howler monkeys, sloths, iguanas, bats, and toucans.

Take a short drive to the Jungle Breeze adventure park to begin your high-flying zipline experience after the canal boat. Gear up with supplied equipment and climb to the first of 12 treetop platforms after receiving a safety briefing from highly experienced guides. Clip into a system of 11 cables and let go to soar over the rain forest canopy at exciting speeds while taking in spectacular vistas of the Caribbean.

The cables get longer after the fifth platform, reaching a maximum length of 885 feet (270 meters) and heights of up to 263 feet (80 meters). If that’s a little too much for you, you can opt to end the journey early and return to base camp at platforms 5 and 7. Transfer back to your waiting cruise ship in the afternoon when you return to firm ground.

• Tortuguero Canal. On Costa Rica’s northern Caribbean coast, Parque Nacional Tortuguero is a protected wilderness area. Its beaches are well-known for being sea turtle breeding sites, particularly for endangered green turtles.
  Spectacled caimans and river turtles live in the park’s freshwater streams and lagoons, which may be explored by boat or canoe. The adjacent thick jungle is also home to a diverse range of animals, including monkeys and several bird species. Our trip includes a relaxing boat ride through the canals to appreciate the area’s diverse wildlife.
• Puerto Limon. Limón, also known as Puerto Limón, is the capital and primary center of the Limón province as well as the Limón cantón in Costa Rica. With a population of over 55,000 people, it is Costa Rica’s seventh biggest city and home to the Afro-Costa Rican community.
  The Caribbean area is a natural wonderland, comprised of thick forests, towering mountains, and idyllic beaches. Limon boasts Costa Rica’s largest percentage of protected territory, as well as a diverse range of flora and wildlife. Its greenery, like the cultures found across the region, is vibrant.
• Province of Limon. We’ll go on a Jungle Breeze Canopy Tour near Limon City. The zip line canopy trip will take place in a private nature reserve.
