Tour of Valbona Valley & Theth Itinerary

Day 1: Tirana – Komani Lake – Valbona Valley National Park

• Our Tour of Valbona Valley & Theth begins at 5:00 a.m. in the morning when the tour guide will pick you up at your accommodation in Tirana.
• We drive off the main road and enter the village of Vau I Dejs, in a more rural area, with fewer cars and more untamed nature.
• A brief break near Vau I Dejes Lake, a gorgeous and serene spot.
• We continue by local transportation along uneven roads with magnificent views.
• We board a ferry at 9:00 a.m. to cross the Komani Lake, which offers breathtaking views of the Albanian Alps, waterfalls, rural settlements, and untamed forests. Many people regard it as a unique experience paired with unrivaled local warmth.
• Valbona Valley National Park will be our next stop. We will arrive in Valbona at about 13:00 and will explore the area and appreciate the so-called Crown of the Albanian Alps after a delicious traditional lunch (lunch break will be about noon on all three days of the tour).
• Accommodation in a guesthouse in Valbona.

Day 2: Valbona – Maja e Rosit – Valbona

• The second day of the Tour of Valbona Valley & Theth becomes increasingly challenging.
• One of the Balkan peaks, Maja e Rosit, is our hiking goal. We pass via Kukaj on our way to Rosi Peak.
• Maja e Rosit provides a breathtaking perspective of the Valbona Valley and the Accursed Mountains.
• We’ll have a picnic lunch in this beautiful part of the earth.
• Accommodation in a guesthouse in Valbona. Breakfast included for the next morning.

Day 3: Valbona Valley – Valbona Pass – Theth

• Trekking to Theth from Valbona will take us almost the entire day, as the trip takes around 6 to 8 hours
• We will reach a height of roughly 1050 meters in an isolated and beautiful area.
• The Balkan Peaks and Bjeshket e Nemuna can be seen from the Valbona pass on the way to Theth.
• After the Valbona Pass, we continue our Tour of Valbona Valley through some lovely landscapes and untamed forests on our way to Theth.
• Accommodation in a guesthouse in Theth. Breakfast included for the next morning.

Day 4: Theth – Blue Eye – Theth

• Our hiking excursion of Theth continues to the so-called Blue Eye of Theth, a natural beauty.
• The Blue Eye is produced by water eroding the rocks as it descends from the Albanian Alps’ melting snow.
• You will be unable to take your gaze away from the iridescent light of green and blue colors that invites you to dive in.
• Accommodation in a guesthouse in Theth. Breakfast included for the next morning.

Day 5: Theth – Grunas Waterfall – Theth – Shkoder – Tirana

• In the midst of the Albanian Alps, we’ll have our final traditional breakfast.
• From Theth, we climb to Grunas Waterfall.
• On our way back, we stop at the old Church and the Lock-in Tower (a symbol of Theth) to learn about its intriguing history.
• At Qafa e Thores, we use local transit along a steep, deceptive mountainside that rises to 1700 meters above sea level. This is said to be the best photo site in Albania, with a superb view of the Albanian Alps.
• The intricate zigzag path through the hilly landscape gradually smooths out, leading us to Shkodra Lake.
• Our driver will meet us in Shkoder and bring us back to Tirana, Albania’s sophisticated and lively capital city.
• The Tour of Valbona Valley will finish in the late afternoon.
